Detect Dangers in the Air for Free

Kearney Fire & Rescue Protection District has partnered with the American Red Cross to provide free smoke detectors to residents of the community. Along with our smoke detector program, we also provide assistance with replacing batteries to existing smoke and carbon monoxide alarms.

What We Do

  • Install new, free smoke detectors provided by the American Red Cross.
  • Assist with installing smoke and carbon monoxide detectors provided by the resident.
  • Check existing detectors for proper functionality.
  • Provide residents with a home fire safety plan.

Manufacturers recommend installing smoke detectors not more than 12″ away from the ceiling but a minimum of 6″ from the ceiling.

You must be a resident of the Kearney Fire & Rescue Protection District.
