Emergency Medical Services From KFRPD
Kearney Fire & Rescue staffs two full-time ALS ambulances daily. We strive to provide the best quality care for district residents and those visiting our community who may need emergency medical services.
What We Do
Here’s a general idea of what our emergency services in Kearney, Missouri, do for our district:
- A large number of our calls for help are emergency medical service calls. To support our two ALS ambulances, our first-out Engine and Quint are also ALS equipped. As with fire suppression, we have mutual aid agreements for EMS coverage that would allow outside agencies to provide EMS assistance if our units are unavailable, and vice versa.
- To further help provide a better service, we are a part of the Mid-America Regional Council (MARC). This membership provides training, specialized equipment (Regional Mass Casualty Tracking System), and regional protocols to help ensure the highest-quality service for the area.
- To keep up with the most up-to-date medical practices, crews attend continuing education classes monthly. All of our EMTs and Paramedics frequently take outside agency training classes.
- All of our personnel are cross-trained Firefighters, EMTs, and Paramedics, so in the event of a fire, one of our ambulances will respond to provide EMS standby on the scene for everyone’s safety and also for any medical services that need to be provided.

Frequently Asked Questions
How many ambulances do you have?
We currently staff two Advanced Life Support ambulances with highly trained Paramedics & EMTs delivering emergency medical services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
Why do I sometimes see our ambulance in other cities?
We have mutual aid agreements with all of the agencies surrounding ours, so if they get busy with emergency calls, we go and assist them. They also return the favor when we have multiple or major emergency incidents.
Why are your ambulances yellow?
To match the rest of our fleet of emergency vehicles, our ambulances have always been yellow. While there is more reasoning why all of our apparatus are yellow, please see our history tab.
