Apply for a Burn Permit

APPLICANT / PERMIT HOLDER MUST CONTACT KEARNEY FIRE AND RESCUE PROTECTION DISTRICT PRIOR TO ANY OPEN BURNING. THIS MUST BE DONE TO ENSURE WEATHER CONDITIONS ARE FAVORABLE FOR OPEN BURNING
THIS WILL ALSO NOTIFY THE FIRE DISTRICT OF THE INTENT TO CONDUCT AN OPEN BURN AND HELP KEEP FROM HAVING ANY UNNECESSARY EMERGENCY RESPONSE FROM THE FIRE DISTRICT.
FAILURE TO NOTIFY THE KEARNEY FIRE AND RESCUE PROTECTION DISTRICT MAY RESULT IN A REVOCATION OF THIS PERMIT.

OPEN BURN PERMIT STANDARD CONDITIONS

The permission to burn in no way relieves the permittee of their obligation to comply with any other local, county, state or federal rules or regulations.
This application becomes the “OPEN BURNING PERMIT” once signed by the designated Kearney Fire and Rescue Protection Districts representative.
The permittee or a representative of SHALL BE PRESENT DURING ALL BURNING to ensure compliance with this permit and to make certain the fire(s) are out.
ONLY tree trunks, tree limbs, leaves, and brush originating from the location of the open burn site may be burned.
The distance from the burn site to the nearest occupied structure (residence or business) MUST BE GREATER THAN 200 YARDS.
Open burning shall only take place between dawn and dusk (daylight hours), or within more restrictive applicable times if required by the Kearney Fire and Rescue Protection Districts Fire Marshal.
Should a problem arise from the burning, such as a public health hazard, nuisance, or hazard to vehicular or air traffic, the permittee must correct the problem immediately.
This permit is effective for 1 year from the date of approval.
This permit will be revoked immediately for failure to fully comply with any of the conditions and restrictions.
The permittee shall notify the Kearney Fire and Rescue Protection District each day before starting any burning.
Permittee authorizes Kearney Fire and Rescue Protection District personnel to enter the site at any time during the term of this permit for inspections and permit compliance determinations. If this permit is terminated or revoked for any reason, a full application must be resubmitted.

IF AT ANYTIME THE OPEN BURNING IS DETERMINED TO BE OUT OF CONTROL DIAL 911 AND REPORT THE SITUATION TO THE EMERGENCY DISPATCHER.

PERMIT NOT VALID WITHIN THE CITY LIMITS OF KEARNEY UNLESS OTHERWISE APPROVED BY THE FIRE CHIEF OR DESIGNEE
