Fire District Board
What is the Fire Board?
The Kearney Fire and Rescue Protection District is governed by a five member board of directors. The Directors are elected at the April general election in odd numbered years. Each Director serves a six-year term. The terms are staggered with one Director to be elected in 2011, two Directors to be elected in 2013, and two Directors to be elected in 2015. A chairman is selected from among the Directors by the Directors.
Board meetings are open to the public. The public is encouraged to attend any Board meeting to express any concerns or suggestions. In limited situations, the Board may adjourn to executive or closed session as permitted by state law.
The Board's regular monthly meeting is generally held on the third Monday of each month at 6:30 PM at the Fire Station at 201 East 6th Street, Kearney, Missouri. Notices and agendas for regular and special meetings are posted as required by state law and are also generally available on this website.
