Kearney will be offering an EMT Class starting 1/25/2010.

Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)

    This course includes instruction in:
  • organizational relationships of prehospital care systems and integration of pre-hospital and in-hospital care.
  • Legal and ethical considerations associated with pre-hospital care.
  • Basic airway skills and oxygen therapy.
  • Basic cardiopulmonary resuscitation instruction.
  • Utilization of Automated & Semi-Automated External Defibrillators.
  • Assessment and basic field treatment of medical emergencies.
  • Assessment and basic field treatment of traumatic emergencies.
  • Basic emergency pharmacology.
  • Clinical experiences with area hospitals and EMS providers.

These clinical times will be in addition to scheduled class time. The course exceeds the requirements for EMT-Basic education as outlined by the Missouri Bureau of Emergency Medical Services and the United States Department of Transportation's National Education Standards.
