Kearney will be offering an EMT Class starting 1/25/2010.
Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)
- This course includes instruction in:
- organizational relationships of prehospital care systems and integration of pre-hospital and in-hospital care.
- Legal and ethical considerations associated with pre-hospital care.
- Basic airway skills and oxygen therapy.
- Basic cardiopulmonary resuscitation instruction.
- Utilization of Automated & Semi-Automated External Defibrillators.
- Assessment and basic field treatment of medical emergencies.
- Assessment and basic field treatment of traumatic emergencies.
- Basic emergency pharmacology.
- Clinical experiences with area hospitals and EMS providers.
These clinical times will be in addition to scheduled class time. The course exceeds the requirements for EMT-Basic education as outlined by the Missouri Bureau of Emergency Medical Services and the United States Department of Transportation's National Education Standards.
