You can survive even major fires in your home if you are alerted to the fire, get out quickly, and stay out.  The best way to achieve this is to install and maintain smoke detectors as well as make an escape plan and practice it.


Daylight Saving Time Change

Change Your Clock, Change Your Batteries

With the change of daylight saving time on October 31, the Heart of America Metro Fire Chiefs Council reminds you that when you change your clock, change the batteries in your smoke alarms.  According to the National Fire Protection Association, a working smoke alarm increases your family's chances of a safe escape from a fire by more than 50 percent.
